A recap...

Seriously awesome way to spend the night, btw.
Thank you Erin for the inspiration :D

First of all all day I told Cady tonight was "fun family movie night!" and she was psyched when she woke up from nap. I had snacks all pre-made and in clear glass canisters and I bought a few of those old style popcorn boxes w/the red and white stripes. I grabbed her play cash register and rented "Hop" and after dinner she helped me get her all dressed in her PJ's and then we put an apron on over them so she wouldn't get dirty.

While DH made a quick phone call for work I put in the movie and by the time he got off the phone I had showed Cady how to take an order, collect the "payment" and say "thank you...enjoy the show!"

So when Bret finished his call she gave him his coins, mixed him up popcorn, goldfish and blackberries -- collected his payment, put them in the cash register and said "thank you...enjoy the show!"

She thought it was the most fun ever; we danced to all the music on the movie and she redistributed the coins and tried to get us to eat more snacks :lmao:

I cannot tell you how much fun this was.
We will definitely do it again...maybe weekly :D it was a BLAST. You should've seen her chocolate covered face after the chocolate covered strawberries.

Mama makes yum snacks.

Attitude help

I know as they grow children go through attitude changes. I'm fully expecting defiance and rude from her over the years, and we've hit our first...

I know as they grow children go through attitude changes. I'm fully expecting defiance and rude from her over the years, and we've hit our first episode. So I'm looking for advice.
Juliet has started defiant non listening. For instance: She'll take her plate to the kitchen to scrape off the scraps, and will go to put them in the recycling. I'll say "not that one sweety" and she'll give me that sideways look and go to do it again. Which leads me to say very loudly "Juliet!" when she'll proceed to cry because I've "yelled". I've just treated this as another "this will pass" phase, tried to be stern when I have to say her name, but not yell.
However, her teacher said she's started doing it at daycare too, which is 100% out of characture for her. It came to a head yesterday when a teacher asked her not to climb up and stand on a chair and she did it anyway- and fell off (giving herself a fat lip, bloody nose, and a torn frenulum). It's been going on for 2 weeks now.
So both Amy (her awesome teacher) and I have had chatted with Juliet to see if something more is going on. I got that she's sad that Suzy left (an old teacher), she doesn't like maree (suzys replacement- I don't like her either), none of the kids she plays with are her friends, she mad at me because I work too much, she's mad the baby will be here soon, and she doesn't like sleeping in her new bed. Amy got that she misses me, she's not friends with Yazmin (and yazmin said Juliet doesn't want to be friends with her).
So.... Help me navigate this ladies. Obviously I can't do much about the baby. As for work- I finish teaching in 2 weeks. I've been teaching 10 weeks already (I get home really late and get her from my mum) and I ready take half a day the day after and we go on an ice cream date. What else can I do? As far as teachers and friends.... There have been a high level of turn around in teachers the last 6 months. Last year she lost 3 teachers in one week. I don't know if she's feeling what I think about maree- I do NOT like that woman. I don't think I can do much about it though. There are kids she plays with- three in particular Oliver, Millie and yazmin. Oliver and mollies mum talk about Juliet all the time, but Juliet says they are not her friends.

I guess I'm trying to sort out if this defiant non listening is purely her age... And how much of it is this other stuff.

Last night Juliet slept in her own bed from 7pm to 5am. It's only the second night trying to sleep in her bed so i was really surprised- the first night was only 3 hours.
It's so bittersweet. While I've been super uncomfortable and cramped with her recently I'm not sure I'm ready for her to sleep in her own room- although I guess she sure is. Every time I woke up I had to go check she was still breathing because I couldn't hear her. I'm so used to just listening to her breathe at night. I was almost relieved when she crawled in with me at 5am for a snuggle.
Yes, I'm pathetic.

honestly guys, I have feared this moment since my first ultrasound I had with Katelynn when they said it's a girl. Seriously, not exaggerating at all.

I got my first phone call this morning saying that a kid at a party the girls were at this weekend has lice. I want to cry. The girls have suuchhh think long hair, I can't even begin to imagine how horrible treating it all would be. I don't see anything but I'm going to have my friend double check, she used to work at a daycare and knows more what to look for. I am freaking out. Seriously, lice scares the poops out of me.

someone hold me..just not to close in case I'm infected also haha :P

I am having the hardest time keeping bath tub toys clean and mold free. I have one of the neuprin (sp) corner toy holders and I can not keep them clean no matter what I do. I just got through scrubbing and had to throw some out and I threw the holder into the wash twice. So how do you clean your tub toys and store them??

I'm struggling with mornings right now. I'm not sleeping well because of the pregnancy and having Juliet sleep peactically on top of me all night doesn't help the comfort level- but that's a whole nother thread. My issue is that Juliet is waking up at 5am, thrashing around, kicking the covers off me, wanting to be rubbed/patted/scratched, and then demanding boob to help her go back to sleep. She doesn't really understand "it's not 6am yet" and can't really read time yet. Is there a clock I can get her that shows night/day that I can set and she can "read" to know it's not time to wake up yet?

So we're probably going to be making the switch to cloth diapers for Hudson. Tell me which brands you love/hate and why. What should I be looking for in a cloth diapering system?

I've looked at the following 4 brands, and Leading the list is Apple Cheeks for their seemingly easy use and the awesome package I can buy that allows me to CD both Lilah and Hudson at the same time (I'll probably need to buy extra inserts though, and likely more covers, but I can collect those as I want them)

So If you have experience with these 4, or others, I'd love to hear what you think!

Apple Cheeks, FuzziBunz, gDiapers, bumGenius.
